Coloring Outside the Lines

“Never be afraid to color outside the lines.”

This quote rings so true for who I am to the core; fashion wise and character wise. I have always been the type of person who walked to the beat of my own drum, never easily influenced or concerned with what others were doing and how I measured up to them. As the years grow longer, I have become extremely comfortable in my own skin and who I am as a person. I love to support, cheer on, and encourage other women when I can but always try to remain true to my own journey and the direction in which God tells me to go. Unfortunately, one of the downsides about “daring to be different” is it intimidates and scares some people. Some folks can’t take it when they don’t have the power or control to make or break you or force you to think how they think, act how they act, do what they do, see things the way they see them, and in return you can be labeled as the “outcast” a.k.a the “black sheep”. Fortunately enough for me, my parents have always instilled in me the importance of being self-confident and knowing your worth, coupled with knowing I am a child of the most high, so with that being said, I’ve learned to be perfectly fine with boldly coloring outside the lines regardless of others opinions and behaviors. I have fought very hard to become the woman I am and I fight for her everyday and I could never envision myself at this point in life, compromising my morals, values, and ethics to fit into an environmental, cultural, or societal norm. My heart truly sings when I see people breaking generational curses, beauty standards, industry standards, social constructs, bad office/work culture by completely being themselves and who God created them to be. It’s so refreshing and liberating. Respecting and accepting people’s differences, is what truly makes the world a better place. Fresh ideas, different perspectives, talents, and skills are truly what creates a strong and thriving culture. So…my message always will be to, “Be You, Do You, and Live Life to Capacity.”

I’m literally applying this very motto to my own life and turning things up a notch this year and beyond! I am focused, re-energized, and determined to get what God has destined for me! Who’s with me on getting all God has purposed and planned for you?! Life is so short and it’'ll be gone before you know it, so we have to do what makes us genuinely happy. Don’t settle, don’t sell yourself short, don’t doubt your capabilities! We have to have faith and believe that what we bring to the table in all areas of our lives is more than enough, regardless if it’s what others are doing or what others think you should be doing! Stand in your truth and LIVE OUT LOUD and don’t let anyone rain on your parade! Periodt!

Anywho, today’s outfit is the epitome of not being afraid to color outside the lines. Hope you enjoy! Have a blessed and fearless week my loves and may God grant you peace and courage as you embark on this new month! Mental Note: We got this! XOXO
