Casual Flow: Birds of a Feather.....

Greetings Lovelies!

It has been said, if you want to get a better understanding of who you are then take a look at the people you're closest to. Are they positive? Encouraging? Supportive? Do they pray with and for you? Are they dependable? Are they there for you when it's convenient and when it isn't? Do they add value to your life and vice versa? Sometimes we have to do a little assessing regarding who we are surrounding ourselves with. It may be time to tighten up your circle or create a new one altogether. Sometimes people out grow one another. I've learned there is nothing wrong with allowing things to fall where they may. There's no beef but you sometimes realize your agenda, values, and purpose have shifted and you no longer have much in common with certain people anymore. The conversations seem more strained and limited and you come to the realization that things have definitely changed. Don't feel bad this is absolutely ok, it's part of life and part of growing. Some people will grow with you and support you through your growth and others will want to continue singing the same old song. My motto is and forever will be, "People come in your life for a reason, season, or a lifetime." It can be dangerous and detrimental when you confuse seasonal people with lifetime people. As the saying goes, "Birds of a Feather Flock Together." So, we have to make sure our flock is aligned with who and what we represent and/or want to be associated with. :-)

The Styling:

I thought the little colorful birdies on this dress were so adorable. I opted to wear this dress as a top due to the length and also because this was a look I wore for a casual work day. I paired it with a vibrant blazer to add a more business casual vibe to my ensemble. The dark jeans were a no brainer, as I think dark jeans go with everything and are a little "dressier" than light denim or distressed denim. The cutesy navy blue bow pumps were added for a little extra girly feel. I kept my jewelry simple as you already know I often prefer less than more.

Alternative Styling:

This top would look very cute worn as a dress( or with denim shorts) with a pair of colored low profile sneakers(chucks, puma's, nike's, etc.), a denim jacket, and a pair of large gold hoop earrings.
