Corporate Chic: Plaid Midi Skirt

Hello All!

Hoping everyone is having a wonderful and Blessed week!

I purchased this skirt on a recent thrifting trip. I am really not too crazy about plaid. Plaid reminds me of tablecloth or throw pillows that belong on my grandparents sofa! However, for some reason I just couldn't resist this skirt...maybe it's the lil' country girl in me or maybe it was the $2 price tag..Either way, I purchased it and wore it and surprisingly received compliments. However, I am still on the fence about it... I was trying something new.... What do you ladies think? Yay or Nay?!

Happy Sunday!!!

Hope everyone is having a Blessed Sunday and wishing everyone a SUPER BLESSED week!

I wanted to share today's church message with you, as I try to do most Sunday's. The text was Luke 16:22-26 and the title of the text was, "Hell is Hotter than this!" In short, he reminded us that this heat we're experiencing doesn't hold a candle to what hell is like and it is important that we fulfill God's purpose for our lives on this earth, so that we can have eternal life. He also spoke about storms and how they are sometimes necessary to bring us out of our living hell. Great Message and what I needed to hear at this point in my life! So, my daily mantra will be, "Is my living in vain?" Something to really ponder on!

Anywho, while in Chicago, we visited Magnificient Mile, which is a strip with tons of shopping stores.....I was like a kid in a candy store! We were able to get some thrifting done, as well. I want to send a HUGE THANK YOU to Sing for assisting us with that process! We found some great thrifting buys. Chicago really surprised me and I really enjoyed exploring all that it had to offer. I can not wait to go back!!!
When I saw the below picture of Solange in those shorts..I fell in love with the print! So, when I saw this cardigan I had to purchase it!

I really like Akira and was very psyched to visit the actual store, which are all based in the Chicago area.
Aghh....finally some wind to cool me down in that 100 degree weather!

Here are some thrifiting items I scored while in Chicago...thanks again Sing :-)

I will def. be visiting again for sure! While in Chicago one of the highlights of my visit was the Chicago Bus Tour. It allowed me the opportunity to really see and learn more about Chicago.  This is what I wore for my second day visiting the Windy City.

Road Trip to Chicago

Hi Ladies!

My friend from college and I decided to take a road trip to Chicago. We both wanted to get away and thought a road trip would be exciting...so here we are...14 hours later :-) We both are kids at heart and absolutely LOVE water parks...so we ended up staying at the Key Lime Resort, which has an indoor water park. Six Flags is also down the street, so we were also able to enjoy Hurricane Harbor Water Park. Here are a couple of pics from my first day....we did a lot of touring/sightseeing so I aimed to keep my outfits for this trip as comfortable as possible.

Corporate Chic: Thrifty lil' Skirt

Greeting Fashionista's and Fashinisto's!

As some of you may know, I finally ventured into the "thrifting" world and I am ecstatic that I tried it! I have found some of the cutest little pieces for near to nothing in cost. Got to love that! This is a skirt that I purchased on one of my thrifting trips. Anywho(my mother doesn't understand why I say this...I know it's not a word, it's just one of those words I chose to remix..kind of like saying Tarjay instead of Target...anyway, I digress...)! Well, lovelies this will probably be my last post until I return from vacation next week! I know I am going to miss some great posts from all of you and will have a lot of catching up to do when I get back...blogging has become such a major part of my world. Thanks guys for making it such a rewarding, enjoyable, and inspiring experience! GOD BLESS! XOXO

I decided to experiment a little with my hair and try a different product line called, "curls" on my hair today..what do you ladies think? My hair is still a work in progress....
I think I am going to go to the Devachan salon in NY and have it cut, so it has better shape to it. I am somewhat apprehensive when it comes to haircuts...My last haircut(in December of 2009) started off like this......
and ended up like this.............
I loved the style then but do not want to travel down that road again..short hair was fun at first but waaaay too high maintenance for me! So, I am hoping to keep my length this time around.

What I Am Wearing:
White Tee-H&M
Jean Jacket-Thrifted(Gap)..$10
Blue and Black Skirt-Thrifted(Forever 21)..$6

Vintage Loving: Turquoise Fever

Hi Everyone! Hoping everyone had a FABULOUS weekend and wishing you all a very blessed week!

As some of you may already know I am really liking the 1950's style of clothing, as of lately. This particular dress was inspired by the 1950's era and from a photo from my inspiration board. This is a turquoise vintage dress I purchased during one of my thrifiting adventures and I just love the shape of the dress, as well as the length. This dress is a tad bit big on me, so I probably will have it taken in some and possibly shortened just a bit, before wearing it again.
Now, that I am giving the photos another glance over, the dress is pretty big on me and that's too bad because fit is everything..oh well! You win some and you lose some. :-)
I know you guys are SOOOO tired of seeing these wedges but I just LOVE them! They're so comfy and go with so many things I have! So pardon me in advance for being a repeat offender!!!
As Always, THANKS SO MUCH for taking the time to visit my blog! Feel free to follow if you like...XOXO

Hi Everyone! Hoping you had a great week and will have an even better weekend!

The "bf" and I took an evening stroll last night in Center City. It was so nice out and relaxing to get some fresh air and enjoy each other's company. We spent some time by the fountain and decided to take a couple of photos.

This dress is a couple of years old and this was my first time wearing it! It fits a lot more snug than when I first purchased it but I'm working on that :-)

Ruffles, Pink and Floral's..Oh My!

Hello Everyone!!!

This post is a day late..apologies. I attended a last minute 4th of July BBQ this past Monday and I really enjoyed catching up with an old friend. Initially, I was debating whether to go or not but I am glad that I did. We had a good time. I whipped this outfit together rather quickly and was afraid that it would be a bit much for a cookout, so I threw on some wedges and a cardigan to make my outfit a little more casual. Hope you like! As Always, THANKS so much for your support and taking time to visit my blog! XOXO

As, the day proceeded the humidity got the best of my hair. Hence, the little frizzies sticking up in the below photo..got to love this weather!

I saw this romper a couple of weeks ago in H&M but didn't want to pay $40 bucks for it. (I'm on a budget yall'.) So, I was psyched when on my most recent trip to H&M, I saw it on the sales rack for $20. So, glad I waited! This little romper is a combination of so many of my favorite things; the color pink, ruffles, and floral print!

What I Am Wearing:
Wedges-Dolce Vita for Target
Necklace-Forever 21
